Now to answer some questions.
From Radam
- Why are you doing this?
- How long do you plan to do it?
- What do you eat?
For quite a few years I've planned on trying out the hobo life. It's always sounded so exciting. My main dream was to become one of them traveling hobo's that hitch rides off of trains (like in the movies). But if I did that then I wouldn't have a job. I know that having a job kinda defeats the purpose but I have bills to pay, so the job stays.
I don't have a plan for how long this is going to go on. I guess it'll happen until I have to stop. So far I haven't ran into any problems that don't have an easy solution, so I don't see any reason that I would need to stop.
Food has not been a problem. I generally don't eat breakfast anyway. For lunch I just go grab something to eat from a restaurant near my work, and I usually spend dinner with some friends. I pretty much get the same amount of food that I got while living at my parent's house.
From Cousin Zachary:
- My biggest question is where are you able to park overnight without being harassed by our beloved officers of the law?
From the very beginning I knew that this was going to be one of my biggest troubles. There are not very many places that would allow this sort of slumber. So far I've been parking in front of my friends houses so I can get used to the feel of sleeping in my car and also have a sense of security at the same time. I don't plan on always doing that though. When it gets a little warmer outside, I want to drive up the canyon and sleep in a tent. It's like camping every night!
From Brother Mark:
- I wonder how many homeless people blog.
I know that this isn't really a question but I'm going to answer it anyway. I don't know. But seriously, the first blog that I can ever remember reading was from a homeless dude. He would go to his local library and blog about what it's like to be homeless. Him and I are very different though. I'm homeless by choice, he wasn't. Actually I think he's still homeless. I just went to his blog to see if still exists and it does. Not only that, but it's still up to date. Check it out here.
For my hobo update: I decided to make life a bit more interesting. I know that my car could break down at any time. If this were to happen, I'd be out of hope. Being able to get around is very important to me (especially since I need to go to work everyday). So on Saturday I bought myself a motorcycle. I owe a big thanks to Reilly for this purchase. She was kind enough to co-sign for me. It's a Honda Shadow Spirit 750. I like it a lot.

I salute you Adam! Keep it up!
Thanks for addressing my question, I hope you are able to find a good place up the canyon.
I am going to put a link on my blog to yours. I hope that is ok. If not, let me know.
See you at: www.whereiszach.blogspot.com
Hey i have been thinking about your "moving to the canyon" thing and it made me think of that book we read in 5th grade My Side Of The Mountain. Do you remember that book? Where the boy carves out the tree and trains the hawk. Well maybe you could be like him?
OH WAIT... at the end of the book his parents go and move up to the tree with him.... i dont think you would like that!
Maybe i will come and be a mountain girl and move to the tree with you instead?
I Love You
Hey, remember that time when your brother wrecked your motorcycle. You were pissed. I remember it. Then you let me ride it and to tell you a secret that was my first street bike ride ever and my first street bike with another person on back, but look! I lived and so did the bike! No extra scratches!
